Megan found out about Shadowbrook while browsing through one of our CA guide books and it has been on our to do list for some time. They are famous for, among other things, a working cable car that lets you arrive in style or avoid the ‘arduous’ trek up the hill the restaurant is situated on after dinner. Initially we planned to visit for the big loan payoff celebration but with summer coming to an end and a bit of money still owed we decided to just make a reservation so that we could enjoy the sunset during our time there. As it turned out, I got a promotion at work the week of our reservation so we called this dinner a promotion celebration instead.
Overall it was a great experience. We showed up an hour early for drinks and a big pretzel with cheese in the bar by a fireplace before having dinner in the original fireplace room within the main part of the original restaurant.
For dinner Megan choose the steak while I opted for fish:
FILET MIGNON
Char-grilled Angus beef, smoked Gouda potato gratin, wild mushroom, Cippolini onion ragout and Béarnaise sauce
‘PACIFIC RIM’ SALMON
~ As featured in Bon Appetit magazine ~
Certified sustainably raised and organically fed, Sea greens, ginger-wasabi and Ponzu sauces, Miso vinaigrette julienne vegetables and Sesame seeds
For desert of course we had the creme brûlée.
